Bio
I am a habilitation candidate (post-doctoral researcher and teacher) at the Chair of Health Informatics (Technical University of Munich Hospital) under the guidance of Prof. Björn Schuller, working on fundamentals and applications of deep learning (DL). Due to my background in both physics and computer science, I try to better understand what is going on in the training dynamics of DL and leverage gained insight into a wide range of applications covering affective computing, health, and industry applications. With my main focus being on audio data, I have experience in general signal processing, as well as computer vision, and natural language processing.
In 2025, I was awarded my PhD (Dr. rer. nat.) with Summa Cum Laude (highest honour) from TUM’s School of Computation, Information and Technology. Prior to that, I completed my M.Sc. in Physics (2018), as well as my B.Sc. in Informatics (2015) and my B.Sc. in Physics (2014) in the University of Augsburg. Since 2026 I am pursuiing a habilitation in Computer Science at TUM’s School of Computation, Information and Technology of the Technical University of Munich under the guidance of my mentors Björn Schuller and Sepp Hochreiter.
Besides research, I take a lot of joy in teaching, including supervision of bachelor and master theses - or all other kinds of guided research, as well as structured courses. I am actively gathering teaching experience since my 2nd semester at university (after already being a tutor for fellow pupils at high school since the age of ~13), creating content for and giving tutorials and lectures. I have also been actively shaping and coordinating the general teaching curriculum of our research group since 2019.
